Scholarships
Here at the Community Foundation, we’re passionate about education. That’s why we offer over 100 scholarship opportunities to Whitley County students. Thanks to generous donors, we have scholarships available to students of every age, income level, academic ability, and athletic aim. For more information about these scholarships, please consult a guidance counselor at your school or call the Community Foundation of Whitley County at 260-244-5224. All scholarships will be due April 15th unless otherwise noted in the scholarship description.

Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship
Deadline - September 7, 2023
The Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship offered through the Community Foundation of Whitley County will include full tuition, required fees, and a special allocation of up to $900 per year for required books and equipment for up to eight semesters/12 quarters of undergraduate study on a full-time basis leading to a baccalaureate degree at any Indiana public or private college or university accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
You will be considered eligible to apply for a Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship through the Community Foundation of Whitley County if you meet the following criteria:
- You have been a resident of Whitley County for 12 months prior to the date of this application.
- You are on course to graduate in June 2024 with a diploma from an accredited Indiana high school and plan to pursue a full-time baccalaureate course of study at an accredited public or private college or university in Indiana.
- You are able to demonstrate that you have financial need.
- You can demonstrate pride in the community, responsibility, perseverance, self-esteem, and the desire to contribute to Whitley County through work or volunteerism.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Selection of the semi-finalists is based upon the following: community involvement, activities and/or work experience, financial need, two essays, personal recommendations, and academic achievement. Strong consideration will be given to a well-rounded student evaluated on scholarship, problem solving, financial need, work experience, community and school activities.

When are scholarships due?
Most scholarships are due April 15 (even if that date falls on the weekend). There are some exceptions, so please check on the application the due date.
When is the Lilly Endowment Scholarship available and due?
The Lilly Endowment Scholarship is available the first of August and is due
mid September each year. Please click the Lilly Endowment Link for

What materials do I need for applying?
All scholarships are different, but most will need a transcript and a letter of recommendation. A senior picture will also be required for all scholarships. Make sure you have the items in a .doc or .pdf form before applying. Applications can’t be saved once started. Saving all
info on a Word Document and cutting and pasting helps protect from losing your information.
Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Available
The 2024 Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship application is now available in Whitley County through the Community Foundation of Whitley County. The Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Program (LECSP) will provide 147 scholarships statewide with one available in Whitley County. LECSP scholarships may be used for otherwise unreimbursed full tuition, required fees, and a special allocation of up to $900 per year.

Brody Barker Memorial Scholarship Announced
The Community Foundation of Whitley County is honored to hold an endowed scholarship created in memory of Brody Barker, who passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at Parkview Regional Medical Center.
