Nyah’s Angels Fund

Sometimes beautiful gifts are born out of grief. Such is the case of Nyah’s Angels Fund, which was recently established as an endowment fund to assist single mothers who have experienced the overwhelming loss of their baby due to a stillborn birth.

Having lived through the heartache of losing Nyah, a local mother and grandmother found a meaningful way to honor her existence by creating a fund that will help other single mothers from Whitley County who are struggling with a similar loss and at the same time, faced with the financial burden of paying for a funeral.

“This is a generous gesture and a loving way to honor a precious soul. The family has set aside their own pain to help other people,” said September McConnell, CEO of the Community Foundation of Whitley County which has been chosen to hold the fund. “By creating this endowment fund, the family has established a permanent legacy for little Nyah – her fund will be helping others for generations to come,” she added.

The Community Foundation will partner with local funeral homes to identify individuals who may qualify for the assistance. The Fund is open to accepting contributions and all donations are tax deductible. Anyone wishing to make a gift may mail it to CFWC, 400 N. Whitley Street, Columbia City, IN 46725 or make an online contribution at www.cfwhitley.org. For additional information, contact the Community Foundation at 260-244-5224.
