Created in 1982 from the estate of Flossie Widney, this scholarship honors the traditions of farming for the people of Whitley County and is intended to enlarge the progress and contentment of rural living. B.V. was a graduate of Tri-State College with a B.S. in Science and was a staff member at Purdue University. Flossie attended courses at Purdue University. This scholarship is awarded based on financial need, scholastic ability and personal character. Preference is given to Whitley County students seeking a degree from Purdue University in the field of Agriculture or students seeking an Engineering or Science Degree from Trine University. Students pursuing a degree in Health and Human Services degree from Purdue will also be considered.
