This scholarship was established in memory of Betsy by her parents. The scholarship is awarded to students at Miami of Ohio, University of Michigan and Columbia City High School.
Also, from this fund, annual scholarships are awarded to Columbia City United Methodist Church for children to attend church camp.
At Columbia City High School, a committee from the guidance department and faculty select 12 individuals from the top twenty percent of the class. Another group of faculty narrow the possible recipients down to three. A committee made up of Betsy’s family interviews and decides the recipient of the award. The awards are made on the basis of character, attitude, scholarship and achievements. Please see the guidance department for any other information.
This fund also helps with camp scholarships at Columbia City United Methodist Church. University of Michigan and Miami of Ohio also receive scholarships in Betsy’s honor.
