Announcing the Nestel Gross Community Fund: When Paying it Back Means Paying it Forward . . .
There’s something beautiful in remembering that our roots shape who we are.
Di Nestel and Kim Vance, have chosen to pay tribute to family members — past, present and future — whose roots run deep in Churubusco, Indiana, by establishing the Nestel Gross Community Fund under the umbrella of the Community Foundation of Whitley County. The purpose of the fund will be to combat social isolation in youth and older adults of Churubusco, by supporting programs, services and projects that foster belonging and, through participation, strengthen relationships. The fund will provide support for projects in the Busco community such as programs at the exciting new library. Their decision to endow the fund means that it will always exist to enhance the Churubusco community for generations to come.
In choosing to honor family legacies, Di reflected, “All four of my grandparents, both of my parents, and extended family were lifelong residents of Churubusco. Many relatives still live in the area today and some, like me, have moved away, but we consider growing up in Busco, in a supportive, extended family, to be crucial to the adults we have become.”
Others interested in donating to the Nestel Gross Community Fund can make a tax-deductible contribution via the Foundation’s website at www.cfwhitley.com or by mailing it to CFWC, 1171 E Woods Way, Columbia City, IN 46725. Making a gift to the fund is a great way to honor relatives or celebrate special occasions.
“Turning 70 has provided an opportunity for me to reflect upon what is important and how a sense of purpose and belonging builds strong families and communities. We hope the Nestel Gross Community Fund will serve and support the Churubusco community for years to come,” said Di.
